The Harlandale Indian's Advanced Large Squad won the 2007 TYFA State Cheer Competition and for the first time the highest scoring squad in the TYFA State Competition was also awarded a paid trip to a National Competition.

Saturday, January 26, 2008
Freeman Coliseum, San Antonio Texas

2008 National Champions
School/Youth League Cheer Division

The Indians made their first National appearance not only for themselves but also representing TYFA. They sported a TYFA logo embroidered on their uniforms.

The Indians had practiced all season to win the TYFA Competition and then practiced another 8 weeks to prepare for the Jamfest.

It showed.  The Indians were the first squad to perform of the day and came out calm and collected.  They were on fire dazzling the crowd and the judges with precision moves.

44 Squads participated at this event from all over Texas in three Divisions:

  • School/Youth Teams
  • All-Star Teams and
  • Exhibition and Parent Teams

TYFA is very proud of these girls and would like to congratulate them for winning and to thank them for representing TYFA in a very professional manner.

Harlandale Dad wins Dance Off

The 2nd Annual Jamfest Moms Dance Off was renamed for this event (1/26/08) as the 2nd Annual Jamfest Moms and 1 Dad Dance Off.

The Indian dad told the Jamfest officials who were asking for moms to assist them at the end of the competition, but before the awards, that whatever they were doing shouldn't be just for moms.  So he was invited.  Little did he or the moms know that it was to be a dance off.

The 29 moms and 1 dad were split into three groups.  Each group took turns dancing to music. Then each group was brought up and the MC asked the crowd to judge each person.  Each group yielded 1 winner. Then the two remaining moms and one dad danced off to get one winner.

The crowd loved the dad and he easily won the 2nd Annual Jamfest Dance Off.

Congratulations!
